Verdict. The product a buyer is most likely to already have people for, and the one that has moved the least. A mature engine and an academic reach nothing else here approaches, against a platform story that stopped at the Windows desktop: no Mac, no Linux, no browser, no cloud. If a shortlist includes anyone who does not work on Windows, this is decided before capability is discussed.

Strengths

  • The deepest academic presence in this category, taught in more universities than the next several products combined, which means a supply of people who already know it
  • A long record in large organizations, and a mature engine with a documented optimization component
  • Flowchart modeling that the published material presents as requiring no code
  • Two and three dimensional animation for presenting a finished run

Limits

  • Windows only, with no macOS build, no Linux build, no browser version and no cloud tier of any kind
  • The published system requirements name Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016, and require a separate office suite for its spreadsheet and document integration
  • No price is published for any edition, and third party sources carry no figure specific enough to repeat
  • Now presented inside a very large corporate site, where the product has considerably less of its own voice than its competitors do

This assessment is built from published vendor documentation, product materials and pricing pages, current at the verification date shown. We do not claim hands on testing of the products covered. Weighted total 63 of 100.

In their own words

Presented by its publisher as a way to take the guesswork out of decision making, with flowchart modeling that does not require code.

How each criterion scored

  1. Modeling capability

    17 out of 20

How much of a real process the model can represent: routing, resources and shifts, queueing, batching, statistical distributions and control logic.

A mature and well documented discrete event engine with a long record in large scale work, and a documented optimization component for searching across scenarios. Discrete event only.

  2. Ease of learning

    12 out of 20

How long it takes to reach a first useful model. Onboarding, templates, and how much scripting the product makes unavoidable.

The published material presents flowchart modeling as requiring no code, and the academic base means many people arrive already knowing it. Against that, third party reviewers consistently report that the advanced features are complex and time consuming to master.

  3. Results, analysis and experimentation

    16 out of 20

Depth of reporting, bottleneck analysis, scenario comparison, repeated runs, and structured experiments.

Documented experiment workflows for comparing alternatives, an optimization component, and animation of a finished run. A capable results story that the published material describes in less detail than the modeling.

  4. Pricing transparency and total cost

    3 out of 15

Whether a price is published at all, what training, renewal and hosting add to it, and what the free tier really allows.

Nothing published for any edition, and the buying page routes to an email address or a distributor. Third party sources describe it as expensive but carry no figure specific enough to repeat, so a buyer cannot form even a rough expectation without contacting someone.

  5. Visualization and stakeholder communication

    7 out of 10

How well a finished run persuades somebody who did not build the model. A three dimensional view is one route to that, and not the only one: an animated run, a heatmap showing when a queue builds, or a chart ranking every step by what it costs can each do the same job at a fraction of the effort to produce.

Documented two and three dimensional animation, with a dedicated graphics card among the published system requirements. Capable at presenting a run, and presented as a feature of the product rather than as an argument for it.

  6. Platform and deployment

    3 out of 10

Which operating systems are supported, whether it runs in a browser, and how teams share and govern work.

Windows only. No macOS, no Linux, no browser version and no cloud tier. The published requirements name only Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016, and depend on a separate office suite for spreadsheet and document integration. The weakest platform position in this comparison.

  7. Learning resources and support

    5 out of 5

Documentation, training, an active community, and academic access.

The strongest teaching position in the category by a wide margin, with a deep academic program and a large body of published course material. Full marks: whatever else is true of it, finding somebody who can already use it is easier than for anything else here.

Pricing is not published

No price appears on the publisher's own site. The buying options page directs a prospective buyer to an email address or to a regional distributor. We found no published figure for any edition.

Third party sources report figures around Third party listings describe it as expensive for small businesses and individual users but publish no figure for any edition. We were unable to find a specific number from any source we would repeat.. We have not been able to confirm that, and it is reported here as an unverified third party figure rather than as a price. The source that carried it.

Student and demo edition. A size limited demo of the Professional edition, with its templates and features. The publisher describes it for commercial customers as supporting proof of concept models and the exercises in its e-learning course, and for academic users as supporting the textbook exercises, and the student version's terms prohibit commercial use. Whether work done in the demo may be used for production decisions is not stated, and no time limit is stated. It does not expire.
