Standing index
Pricing Transparency Index
How much a buyer can establish about what each product costs without contacting anybody. 2 of 8 publish a price at all.
What is scored
- 50A price on the vendor’s own site Not a quote form, not a third party listing. A figure a buyer can read without giving anybody their name.
- 20Specific enough to cost a shortlist Per seat, per year, or per package, recorded on the record. A price that says "from" without saying from what does not qualify.
- 30A free edition that does not expire The part of the product a buyer can evaluate at no cost and on no clock. A time limited trial is not this.
Out of 100. The index measures disclosure, not value: a product can be excellent and score zero, and a product can score full marks by being free. It answers one question, which is whether you can budget for this without a sales conversation.

What the table says
2 of 8 publish a price on their own site. The rest require a conversation before a buyer can put a number in a budget, which means a shortlist cannot be costed without contacting every vendor on it.
Two products score full marks, and they get there differently, which the score cannot show. Bizagi Modeler is free, so its price is public in the only way a free product's price can be. ProcessModel publishes actual figures for a paid product, which is the harder thing and the rarer one: it is the only product in this assessment a buyer can cost, at a specific number, before speaking to anyone.
5 of 8 offer a free edition that does not expire. That is the one thing most of this category does give away, and it is why the free editions are worth reading closely rather than counted. We went through every one of them, and they are not equivalent.
3 products publish neither a price nor a permanent free edition. iGrafx, Simio, Simul8. For these, everything about cost begins with a form.
Every product, in its own words
- Bizagi Modeler
- Free. The modeling application and its four simulation levels carry no charge for an individual user, stated plainly on the publisher's own pages. The product reviewed here is the free modeling application, and its price is public in the only way a price can be: there is none. The wider automation platform it is designed to lead into is a separate purchase, described as consumption based, and is not priced publicly. A reader should treat the free tool as genuinely free and the path beyond it as a quote. A third party figure exists and is recorded on the review page as unconfirmed.
- ProcessModel
- Published in full on the publisher's own pricing page. A single seat is 169.95 a month or 2,039 a year. Team packages are listed at 14,392 for three years and four users, and 28,782 for three years and ten users. One of three products in this comparison with a price on its own website, and the only one of those three publishing both a priced commercial license and a separate free tier that permits commercial use. A buyer can cost a shortlist here without contacting anyone.
- AnyLogic
- No price appears on the publisher's own site. The editions page describes three editions and directs commercial buyers to a sales contact. Training is charged separately from the license. A third party figure exists and is recorded on the review page as unconfirmed.
- Arena
- No price appears on the publisher's own site. The buying options page directs a prospective buyer to an email address or to a regional distributor. We found no published figure for any edition. A third party figure exists and is recorded on the review page as unconfirmed.
- FlexSim
- No price appears on the publisher's own site. A quote request is required. The free edition is published without charge, but no figure is given for the licensed product at any tier. A third party figure exists and is recorded on the review page as unconfirmed.
- iGrafx
- No price appears on the publisher's own site for any edition. A seven day free trial of Process360 Live, which includes the Pia assistant, is offered and requires a form rather than a download, so an evaluation begins with contact details rather than an installer. The trial's own page does not state whether simulation is included in it, which is the one thing a reader of this assessment would want it to say.
- Simio
- No price appears on the publisher's own site for any edition. Third party listings that carry the product record the pricing field as unavailable rather than carrying a figure. A buyer cannot cost this product without contacting someone.
- Simul8
- No price appears on the publisher's own site. A quote request is required. Reviewers on third party sites describe additional charges for capabilities beyond the base license. A third party figure exists and is recorded on the review page as unconfirmed.
